The summer rain this past week put a literal damper on my plans. It had been a long time since I hauled my long lens out to shoot birds, but heavy clouds both dim the light and drive the flocks into hiding. That said, adapting to the weather is native to us in the Pacific Northwest, so I trekked into Discovery Park just after the rain broke in hopes that the both the sun and the birds would come out to play.
I was not disappointed.
My goal was to capture the songbirds along a path towards the top of the park that I'd been frequenting. Many different species were out and my shutter finger was very busy. Some species were more willing to sit for a photo shoot than others, so today I'm posting a variety pack and the more photogenic birds will get their own posts on a different day.
