During my visit to the Edmonds waterfront to hunt for sea birds, I found a different animal with wings: humans! It was a very, very windy fall day and I learned that Marina Beach is a popular spot for wingsurfing.
I've not done much sports photography, but fortunately in this case my settings for shooting birds (fast shutter speed, wide aperture) applied perfectly well. The biggest challenge was the wind, which was so strong that it was pushing my big lens like it was one of those sails. My monopod helped with carrying the weight but didn't buttress much against those gusts. I'm glad I didn't use a tripod, though, as all but the heaviest probably would have been blown over, so it was better to keep my equipment in hand.
Post-wise, I started with the Fuji Provia profile and copied settings between the photos so as to tell a consistent story, with only minor tweaks on the individual photos to bring out the unique colors of the different wingsurfers.
